Why are you a candidate for the school board? What are your qualifications? Have you served on a school board or in any other similar elected office?

I am seeking re-election for CUSD school board because I am passionate about education and our school district. As an educator with 35 + years of experience at a variety of levels and sites, including 15 years as a math teacher at CHS, I believe that I bring an important   perspective and classroom experience to the board. In the past 4 years on the school board, I accomplished my three goals that I established as my platform last time I ran: an improved disaster plan, returning independent study to CUSD, and promoting career technical education. Achieving these goals promotes a safer and more enriching CUSD for all students. Beyond these goals, I consistently worked to improve transparency and fiscal responsibility, and to promote the needs of district staff and students. I elevated the student voice and spoke up for both unions, since I know firsthand that the district performs best when we care for the well-being of our students and staff. For this reason, I am committed to working in the best interests of the students and the staff.
